Uniquely You Denver Counseling, LLC
Supporting Women & Children, Adolescents,Individuals & Families

Play Therapy
For kids 18 months and up.
We utilize play as a tool to help give your child a safe place to learn how to better communicate their feelings and emotions. Therapeutic play can help kids to communicate better, change their behavior, develop problem-solving skills, and relate to others in positive ways. It is appropriate for children who may have experienced traumatic events or for those who demonstrate academic or social difficulties.

Individual Therapy
For middle schoolers, adolescents and women.
I give my clients a safe, nonjudgemental place for them to explore and understand themselves on a deeper level. I help guide them to find better choices for themselves, and help them feel happier.

Family Therapy
A poor communication dynamic between family members accounts for the majority of issues faced by our clients. Our focus is on helping families to slow down and listen to each other..REALLY listen. We help guide families through the complex network of indivdual and collective issues that can result in the family communication ‘shut down’.

Hello! I’m Molly
Mental Health Therapist, MA, LPCC
I have been a counselor for over 20 years. I started out as a youth counselor at a residential treatment center. I didn’t make much money, but I absolutely loved it. That’s when my passion to become a mental health therapist started. After doing residential treatment centers and seeing counselors with master degrees making decisions for kids I just didn’t think were in the best interest of the child, I decided to go back to school and get my master’s degree.
Over the years I’ve ran groups at an eating disorder center, worked as a therapist at a child and family out patient clinic, school-based therapist and a counselor at a professional counseling clinic.
I have a BA in Psychology and I graduated from Regis University with honors with a Masters in Counseling. I am a registered License Professional Counselor Candidate through DORA working on my hours for licensure.
I am a mom to three healthy and active boys, so I can relate to many of the issues of parenting. I love to stay healthy by doing yoga and running. I also enjoy the outdoors, skiing, hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and bike riding, basically any reason to get up to our beautiful mountains.
My Expertise

Stress, Trauma, Anxiety & Depression
I have a strong passion to work with middle school age children. In my experience, most of people?s bad coping skills like eating disorders, cutting or self-harming behaviors, substance abuse, depression and anxiety, begin at the middle school age. If we can get kids help when issues first appear, then we can teach them healthy coping skills to be able to manage the bad feelings they are having. Help them understand why they are feeling what their feeling and how to take control over their own lives.
Parenting Support
I work with children as young as 18 months up through adolescents, women and families. I work with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, bulling issues, self- harming behaviors, suicidal thoughts, unresolved physical, sexual or emotional abuse, eating disorders, grief and loss, sexual identification, same sex relationships, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), low self-esteem, video games addiction, domestic violence, parenting issues. I also help assist families with parenting skills and boundaries. I am a mother, so I understand the pressures and stress of parenting in today?s digital world.
My Strategies
I use creativity, spontaneity and humor (a must!) in my sessions. I use several modalities of treatment, including play therapy, sand therapy, Cognitive-Behavior therapy (CBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Gestalt Therapy, Solution Focus therapy, Narrative therapy, dream analysis, Psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness. I will also use art as way to help kids express their feelings in sessions. I believe that therapy is different with each client and I use the client?s unique personality to determine what modalities to use in session.

My Approach
We are all unique in our own way, our uniqueness is what makes us special, its our “super power”. With this belief that we are all so different and unique, I use all this great knowledge I’ve gained over the past 20 years as a counselor and I personalize your therapy. I use different modalities determining on what your needs are. I do not use just one technique for all my clients, I use many and I mold them around you… mold to your own uniqueness. I specialize in helping individuals heal the root of their anxieties, fears, and traumas.
Life can be difficult and overwhelming at times. Whether its our jobs, our children, our spouse or even past trauma. I believe we all have the ability to get through life’s tough times…with a little help and support. There is always a way, always an answer, we just need to slow down and figure it out. Sometimes we just need a little help seeing things clearer. We all get so busy that we don’t slow down and notice the possible bad patterns we’ve created around us. I can help heal some of those past traumas, so you can let go of some of those heavy past memories. The best way to describe it, is that we all carry our own back pack of memories or negative thoughts, that weigh us down like rocks and hold us back from being our true selves. During therapy, I help support you as you pull out each negative memory or thought and face it, so you can throw it away and move on. So you are able to walk taller….lighter.
Children feel overwhelmed too. Unfortunately they do not have the ability to verbalize their frustrations, so we usually see it through their behaviors. Kids do not act out, just to act out, there is always a reason. I can help parents figure out that reason and come up with coping skills to help manage that behavior. I believe if a child is given a safe, confidential space, with a trusting therapist, then change can happen. Play therapy can be very powerful with children, they can act out their feelings and thoughts in a safe place. I can help children with behavior issues, trauma, dealing with divorce, depression, grief and loss and anxiety.
I am an eclectic therapist. I use many different modalities including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focus Therapy, Play Therapy, Sand Therapy, Art Therapy, Dream analysis, EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Family Systems Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Jungian Therapy, Mindfulness-based interventions, Music Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, just to name a few. I also participate in multiple annual therapy presentations and conferences to ensure that I am in a position to review ALL emerging treatment techniques as they may relate to my clients. I believe you can always learn more.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long are sessions?
Individual sessions are the length of a traditional therapy session of 50 minutes long. Family sessions are 80 minutes long, family sessions are typically longer due to being more complex and having additional family members in the session.
How do I know when my child or adolescent needs therapy?
Younger children can’t verbalize their feelings, their frontal lobes are not developed enough yet. You will usually see acting out because they become frustrated or you may see anger and sadness as well. Children don’t act out just to act out, there is ALWAYS a reason, I can help you and your child find this reason. If you notice any personality change in your adolescent or middle schooler, such as anger, depression, isolation, refusing to talk to you, these are all signs that something might be going on. In my experience, pre-teens and adolescents can’t always tell their parents everything thats going on in their lives. They feel they can open up to a professional easier, because there’s no judgment or expectations. Its not against you as a parent, its just they way they think, they don’t want to disappoint their parents.
How frequently are sessions held and how long does therapy last?
Psychotherapy sessions are typically held weekly, especially in the beginning, its important to work on the therapeutic relationship. Children and adolescents I also highly recommend weekly sessions. The duration of treatment varies, but my approach is geared to provide you with rapid and lasting relief.
What ages of clients do you see?
I see clients as young as 18 months old, some sessions might include the parent, this is not considered a family therapy session, so the charge is the same as an individual session. Its just a way for me to help guide the parent/child relationship. I also see children, adolescents and adult women and families.
How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?
Therapy works by giving you a safe, non judgmental space to talk with someone that won’t react to your fears or problems. I take all this knowledge I’ve gained over all these years and I mold my therapy techniques depending on your unique needs. I utilize Play therapy with young clients. I will use sand therapy and EMDR on all ages. I use Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Gestalt therapy, Narrative therapy, Solution Focus therapy and many others depending on your needs. All you need to do is come in and be honest with how you are really feeling.
I’ve never talked to anyone before, aren’t people who go to therapy weak?
Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the ability and strength to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. You’ve probably tried things in the past to help get you through the rough times, but maybe they just aren’t working now. Maybe you are just feeling overwhelmed and you need someone to help find your positive strengths again.
